Child Development, Family Development

CDFD Childcare was founded on a simple idea: when children develop well, their families do too. We created a childcare program that doesn’t just watch children — it actively builds the cognitive, social, emotional, and linguistic foundations they need to thrive in kindergarten and beyond.

Our name says it all. Child Development means every activity, routine, and interaction in our classrooms is intentional. From the way we structure circle time to the meals we cook, everything supports your child’s growth. Family Development means we’re partners with you — not just a place to drop off your child, but a community that supports your family’s journey.

Why Mandarin Immersion?

Research consistently shows that children who learn a second language before age five develop stronger problem-solving skills, better focus, and greater cognitive flexibility. Mandarin Chinese — spoken by over a billion people worldwide — gives children a foundation that opens doors throughout their lives.

At CDFD, Mandarin isn’t a subject taught in a separate class. It’s the language of daily life. Our native Mandarin-speaking teachers use the language naturally throughout the day — during meals, during play, during songs, during stories. Children absorb pronunciation, vocabulary, and sentence structure the same way they learned their first language: by living it.

Our Approach

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all education. Our curriculum is play-based and child-led, meaning we follow each child’s interests and developmental readiness. When a child is fascinated by bugs, we build lessons around insects — counting legs, reading stories, painting pictures, learning the Mandarin words. When the monthly theme is the ocean, the entire classroom transforms.

This approach is backed by decades of early childhood research. Play is how young children learn best. Through purposeful play, children develop pre-literacy skills, mathematical thinking, scientific curiosity, and the social-emotional skills that are the real predictor of kindergarten success.
